The Cottage, Beckside, Staithes - accommodation

The cottage is on three floors, you enter into the lounge/dining room, with T.V. and DVD player, night storage heater and fire place, the fire can be used as an open fire or stove and heats a back boiler which heats radiators throughout the rest of the cottage.

This leads into the well equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave etc, and a back door leads into a rear backyard, very small but great for storing fishing nets, buckets and spades.

Stairs lead to the first floor with two single beds (and a rollout under bed for a fifth person) this room offers good space for play activities for children, if adults want a bit of peace while doing the Times crossword downstairs.

More stairs lead to the double room with lovely exposed beams and great views over the beck. Open the curtains in the morning and sit in bed, if the tide is in just watch the boats bobbing up and down. Stress busting! The bathroom is also on this floor with W.C., basin, bath, and electric shower over.

The lounge, and both bedrooms enjoy views over the beck and the cliffs of Cowbar beyond.

Facilities

As mentioned, the cottage has an open fire/stove that burns coal and heats radiators throughout, in addition there are storage heaters in the lounge and twin bedroom. The fire also heats the water but when not in use there is an immersion heater in the bathroom. Bed linen and electricity are included, sorry we don't cater for pets and smoking is strictly outside only.

There is no parking at the cottage but there is good access for loading and unloading close by and good parking facilities in one of two car parks

As said, linen is included, plus tea towels, you only need bring washing/bath towels.

We try and ensure there are fire-lighters and some coal left at the cottage but it's advisable to bring extra coal for winter stays, the village shop does sell by the bag or from various places in Hinderwell and Whitby.
